Master carver and owner of Olympic Mantles Eugene J. Pentz is personally responsible for all of the fireplace mantles on this website. For each mantle project Eugene makes a rough sketch, and when he is fully satisfied with the general idea than he proceeds with the full-scale drawing. He builds and assembles the project, making absolutely sure that everything is in perfect proportion and fits to perfection. He is then ready to hand carve the necessary detailed designs into the project.

Once the original parts are built and the carving is completed, a rubber mould is created from each section of the product. There can be as many as fifteen sections to each mantle.

To keep the original concrete affect, Eugene and his trained helpers add the desired color into the concrete mix before pouring it into the mold. Another finishing technique available is the surface color application. This provides an unlimited variety of colour-tones, including Ragging, Multiplied Colour Texture Wash and Antiquing. We also offer, on request, our high-end "Old World" style products, such as imitation marble & granite finishes, 22K gold, silver and various metal leafing, including bronze, copper and brass. These are applied mainly on ornate sections of the product. The finished product can then be shipped unassembled, or installed anywhere in North America and overseas by the Olympic Mantles team. These truly are products for discerning individuals who prefer to have an enduring work of art in their homes.
